Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at jennifersigman@sigmanfamilyagency.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Most people become eligible for Medicare at age 65. Your Initial Enrollment Period begins three months before the month you turn 65, includes your birthday month, and continues for three months after. Enrolling on time can help you avoid late enrollment penalties and gaps in coverage.

If you have health coverage through your employer or your spouse's employer, your Medicare enrollment options may be different. The right decision depends on factors such as the size of the employer and the type of coverage you have. We'll help you understand how your current coverage works with Medicare.

Original Medicare includes Part A (hospital insurance) and Part B (medical insurance). Many people also choose a Medicare Supplement plan and a Part D prescription drug plan.

Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private insurance companies approved by Medicare and combine your Medicare benefits into one plan. Many also include prescription drug coverage and additional benefits.

We'll help you understand how each option works so you can make an informed decision.

Even if you don't currently take prescription medications, it's important to review your options. Delaying enrollment without other creditable prescription drug coverage could result in a late enrollment penalty if you decide to enroll later.

Yes. Depending on your situation, you may have opportunities to review and make changes to your Medicare coverage during certain enrollment periods or if you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period. We'll help you understand when changes may be available and what options you have.

The cost of Medicare depends on several factors, including the coverage you choose. While many people receive Part A without a monthly premium if they meet eligibility requirements, Part B has a monthly premium, and other plans may have additional premiums, deductibles, copayments, or coinsurance.

We'll help you understand the costs associated with your options.

To make the most of your appointment, it's helpful to have:

  • Your Medicare card (if you have one)
  • A list of your current medications
  • Your preferred doctors and pharmacies
  • Information about any current health insurance coverage
  • A list of questions or concerns you have about Medicare

No. Our Medicare consultations are provided at no cost to you. We'll take the time to answer your questions, explain your options, and help you understand available plans so you can make an informed decision about your coverage.
